Our first impression of this beautifully restored Baroque castle, set in an idyllic harbour was that of pure delight - here was a building that held so much history, open for business as a luxury boutique hotel! Next time we come, we will stay in the castle's turret, which consists of five floors, with each floor having its own balcony.. . we'll swim in the swimming pool and visit the day spa. . . then we'll check out the village by foot, and the island by helicopter and return to our palace to watch the sunset from the amphitheater. . . and that's the plan.
On this bright spring day in May, we received the warmest of welcomes and were shown around the hotel by our hosts, who later joined us for lunch in the five-star restaurant located on a terrace overlooking the harbour. Our lunch was a chance to delve deeper into contemporary Dalmatian cuisine and we were thoroughly impressed by the presentation and flavours of the four dishes prepared for us. The setting could not have been nicer and the meal was accompanied by a delicious pale rosé wine from the hotel's well-stocked cellar. In a word: "Fabulous"!
