Is there any occasion more befitting for sipping champagne than an after-the-snorkelling Jacuzzi party? This was the discovery we made as we sat in the warm waters of Jacuzzi on the upper deck of MASTEKA 2, the elegant super yacht that we were calling home for a few days, and tasted our first glass of “bubbly”. There, moored just off the coral reefs of Ouen island, New Caledonia, we shared stories of our snorkelling adventure: swimming with white tip reef sharks and marvelling at how the reefs, teeming with colourful creatures, are so accessible here. And to top it all off, we were in a location all on our own and so while soaking in the Jacuzzi, we were entertained by the beauty and majesty of our surroundings.
The stylish MASTEKA 2, the first foreign-flagged super yacht with a charter licence in New Caledonia has just undergone a multi-million dollar refit and every inch of her 122 feet shines. A special breed of super yacht, MASTEKA 2 was nominated for the Superyacht of the Year awards back in her year of launch, 2009. She is ideally suited to cruising the islands of the South Pacific with zero-speed stabilisers ensuring the greatest possible comfort while underway. Her friendly crew offer a very warm welcome and excellent service, each brilliant individual bringing their professionalism and their sense of fun to the party.
There are outstanding features to enjoy aboard, from the roomy aft deck with its al fresco dining area to the fly bridge affording all-around views out over the islands and reefs. There are indoor entertainment and dining areas, a choice of five comfortable cabins and a quiet saloon on the upper deck in which to take a snooze or play a game of cards. Masteka’s design has allowed for an incredible amount of deck space, which really comes to the fore during an active holiday in the South Pacific.
Imagine kids excitedly changing into wetsuits, flippers and snorkels to go exploring with a dive master or swapping into board shorts to head off for paddle boarding in the company of a crew member while their parents look on, relaxing on the aft deck before swapping shade for sun and reading on the forward deck’s sunpad. This is a yacht with so much to offer: great crew, sumptuous accommodation for a party of up to 10 or 12, spacious living areas and a huge array of water sports and recreational gear. She cruises New Caledonia and the Fijian Islands from May through September and is available for charter along the coast of Australia, too!
